Q. Is the MIDAS Weights & Measures certified?
A. YES. The MIDAS system begins and ends the fueling process with the driver entering the beginning and ending meter readings from the certified truck delivery meter. The MIDAS scanner is an auxiliary data recording device and because of the fact that we are not physically connected to the truck, is not subject to Weights and Measures certification. Your actual sale of product is through the certified meter on the truck, and you should supply the customer with a copy of the meter ticket as part of your transaction. Normally the fueler would leave a copy of the meter ticket as well as a MIDAS receipt with the customer before leaving.
Q. Is there an audit trail to prove the accuracy of the data?
A. YES. Several audit trails exist: The fueler can print a duplicate receipt at the end of fueling session at the customer and this receipt can be stored at the company home office; the fueling data stored in MIDAS can be printed and stored as a hard copy backup; the truck meter ticket can be stored as the W & M proof of delivery.
Q. What about the fact that the quantities are hand entered?
A. The MIDAS handheld has user selectable reasonability limits for both the individual fueling transaction and the final total quantity for each product delivered. These insure that the quantity entered is accurate. Many large commercial networks ie: CFN, Pacific Pride, Fuelman/Gascard allow retail site sales with counter-top terminals that use hand entered fuel transactions (sometimes referred to as "hand-tags") - these transactions do not have the audit trail capabilities that the MIDAS system has.
Q. What are the MIDAS reporting capabilities?
A. The MIDAS transaction file is fully compatible with most third-party billing software package that can interface with a Petro Vend cardlock system. Have your software provider contact us for information on how they can import the MIDAS transaction file (a custom import module may be required). The MIDAS transaction file also can be made compatible with Petro Vend's Phoenix Plus for Windows reporting software.
Q. Is it possible to trigger a remote shutoff valve on the fuel truck?
A. YES. With the optional SafeGuard remote shutoff device it is possible to stop the flow of product from as far away as 300 feet, which exceeds existing and pending fire marshall requirements for remote shutoff for wet hosing operations (FCC approved intrinsically safe transmitters).
Q.Does the MIDAS system require that I dedicate a vehicle to mobile fueling?
A. NO. The MIDAS system is completely portable and transferrable for use with any mobile fueling truck. The only equipment that is mounted on the vehicle is the inline meter and optional remote shutoff device. This means that you are not out of business when your truck is in the shop for repairs!
